No wonder people think blogging for an income does not work
I was at a forum which I have been a member of for about three years and have about 60 posts on there.
Yeah, I know 60 posts for three years does not make me the most active member of the forum. And it is one of the more active webmaster forums.
I noticed something odd. A chap who had about 2000 posts for a one year membership declared his earnings. About $80 a month.
Shocking.
I don't know about you by $80 a month is not a lot of money, it's quite bad.
So why did this grab my attention?
This guy has done what he was told to do by the gurus, forum participation and he was actively participating as well.
But if you are going to post 2000 posts in a forum in one year...... Doesn't leave any time for much else.
See what I mean by working smart rather than hard.
Now I am not saying forum participation is bad, in fact it's a good thing and I get a fair amount of traffic from the forums. But you have got to be smart about it. Having one well thought out and relevant answer to someones question is going to go much further than lots of inanae posts. it's about the quality of the message not the quantity.
So if you are a marketer who is doing your own thing and not outsourced, try to focus on return on investment regarding time and effort. it'll help you decide how often you post in the forums and how much time you leave for other effective things like article marketing, social networking, product creation, content creation.... need I go on?

Thanks. You can effectively communicate your key messages through blogs, affiliates and other partners.
I have seen from time to time forum discussions appear high in the SERPS for certain long tail keyword phrases. Considering this in addition to the fact that Google user's can limit their inquiries to discussions, it's sage advice to make your blog comments noteworthy.
Thats a good point. Whenever you are trying to get people to your blog using content that you have placed somewhere else you need to make sure it has value. This will show users that they can get value from your blog.
Forum posting can be a big help as well if you are working on getting traffic for your site. However, you should know how to answer some questions on the forum. Not just by saying that a nice post or whatever.
This is easier said than done I run pest control company in the UK and thought blogging would help my rankings so I have been leaving helpful and meaningful comments but it is so hard.
You are absolutely right as this is very true that we should work smart instead of hard,i am impressed with the title.thanks for your blog.
I agree. It's all about being smart when it comes to blogging. Hard work will definitely help though.
I like your title, work smart not hard. And that's the essence of earning money online, going global right inside your home. Thanks for imparting new insights!
im new to the world of blogging and marketing, anyone got any tips
Useful comments on others' blogs often shows the readers of the comments that you have something good to offer (advice/commnetary etc). This will entice them to want to visit your site.
Nice post. Additionally, its recommended that you research the Top most subject lines in your niche that get the subscribers to click your mail open. That way you know u r not wasting too much time on writing an ineffective subject line. Research has proven that about 35% sales increase is noticed when powerful subject lines are used in your campaigns.
Good post, its really fantastic i like it
Hi Abi thanks to all your hard work I am now earning regularly from my blog Http://pattayabound.blogspot.com But I have a question.. In the search for traffic is it possible to publish videos on to Torrent sites and create links back to my site? Does this break any rule with blogger etc
Cheers Andy
I do not use torrent sites myself but I understand that they are a form of file sharing site. Unfortunately torrent sites seem to attract people who looking for 'free' downloads. Not a client pool I would go after
Yes, you have to learn the tricks that get high results and weed out all the methods that don't get you any traffic.
It takes trial and error to learn what works for you.
Thanks for the great post!
i strongly agree..thanks for reminding me about this..
thanks
Good post, its really fantastic i like it
Great Article. Googd Luck and Thanks
I so much agree with you on that. I think it can take a long time to know whether you're working hard or smart. Sometimes I catch myself working hard on something that won't bring satisfying results so I work differently. We definietly need to keep ROI in mind in every business task we do!
Thanks!
Yes, it's definitely a good thing to learn what's blogging the right way, especially if you blog for money, or else you just waste your time.
Yes, we need to do it right, and not waste more time. There are many ways to do it, not just forum posting.
Yeah, that's why knowing it first is the right way to do it, so won't waste you precious time.
Good advice and I am just trying this strategy on odesk, I just do not have the time to do everything being an internet martketer demands of me!
nice post, I agree. Any insights as to where one can submit their blog url to kickstart their new blog? A smart strategic list instead of wasting time submitting it everywhere and in useless places?
I agree. It's all about being cool when it comes to blogging..thanks for your blog post
That is when you go on a forum, such as the warrior forum, and direct message someone you think may be a marketer who has a list that is comparable to yours.
We're often told that hard work gets us ahead. That's true to an extent – if you put effort and focus into something, you're going to achieve more than if you go at it ...
Absolutely right i am totally satisfy from your blog i am so inspired here.
Thanks for sharing...
Adelaide
Yeah. I really know what you mean, I have a neighbour which work very hard without any progress in making money and I know people that earn 100$/month from ads and they're not happy at all.
Thanks.
